SOOPR Naloxone
Our SMART Synthetic Opioid Overdose Prevention and Rescue countermeasure has demonstrated in vivo proof-of-concept supporting an unprecedented product profile specifically designed to combat fentanyl and other synthetic opioid overdose
The Problem
Existing rescue agents used for opioid overdose are too short-acting. According to first responders, 4-6 doses of Narcan are typically required just to get an overdose patient to the hospital. Unfortunately, this fact is not widely understood, leaving friends and family with the false hope that they can rescue a loved one with one or two doses of Narcan.
Our SMART Solution
SOOPR is the first rescue agent designed for oral synthetic opioid (e.g., fentanyl) overdose. In vivo proof-of-concept demonstrates that a single injection of SOOPR provides more rapid onset and longer duration of action (12-24+ hours) for a more effective rescue and protection against re-narcotization (i.e., fentanyl rebound or rapid reassertion of overdose symptoms). SOOPR could also be used by the military and first responders to protect them against exposure to airborne synthetic opioids in the field, allowing them to complete their mission.
In Vivo Proof-of-Concept Supports Faster Onset and Longer Duration of Protection
-
More rapid rescue than existing rescue agents
Compared to current rescue agents like Narcan® and Opvee®, SOOPR Naloxone provides faster onset of action, reducing the risk of traumatic brain injury, cardiovascular toxicity and death.
-
Empowers friends and family to save a loved one
Unprecedented long duration of protection reduces risk of re-narcotization, reduces risk of severe withdrawal, and provides a critical window for transition to opioid-use disorder therapy.
-
Rapid protection for the military and first responders
Fentanyl and other synthetics can be airborne and weaponized, and when inhaled accidentally, can be fatal. SOOPR can provide rapid protection from functional impairment and life-threatening respiratory depression.
-
24+ hours of protection from opioid effects
Provides critical duration of action enabling soldiers to complete their mission, first responders to perform their duties, and civilians to help themselves and others.
Market Opportunity
According to the Business Research Company, the projected market for naloxone spray is projected to be nearly $2B in 2029. This estimate excludes potential sales as a preventative medical countermeasure for the military and first responders.
